PC-3000 for Windows UDMA with Data Extractor UDMA
We are preparing the release of Beta Version of PC-3000 Utility for HDD Seagate 7200.11 which helps to solve the problem of HDD being detected with 0 GB.

That will be the unique feature which no other HDD repair and data recovery tool in the whole world possesses!                              More...

PC-3000 for SCSI

 Examples of application.

Problems with HDD SCSI Seagate.
  1. HDD Seagate is detected with 0 GB.

Case 1: Hello, can we recover data with this your tool in my situation?
    I have ST336607LC drive with LBA=0
I did hot swap and I could read only 100000 sectors. Andt after I have "Unrecovered read error" and "Data synchronization mark error"
How can I access to the rest of data?

Answer: New PC-3000 for SCSI complex allows to solve such kind of problems. Your HDD has the destroyed translator, and as a result it shows capacity = 0. New Utility for Seagate SCSI HDD's has the function - translator regeneration. After you fulfill this function, you'll get access to all data.

Case 2: My SCSI HDD is detected in BIOS as:

        Model: ST336706LW
        Serial: none
        Capacity: none Mb
        Can I recover data?

Answer: The line "Serial: none" at error message, says us that probably there isn't problem with Translator, but it could be problem either with head or with SA surface, cause serial number of Seagate HDD is storage at one of the modules. There is possibility to make diagnostic of Seagate HDD's malfunctions using new PC-3000 for SCSI. We have realized heads test, write/read SA tracks, reading by physical parameters. The combination of these methods gives opportunity to identify the reason of HDD down state and find ways to recover users data.

  2. I need to modify the serial number and the name of model of HDD SCSI Seagate.

Case: Will the SCSI Seagate utility have the ability to modify the Model number and/or the Serial number.

Answer: At the SCSI Seagate Utility there is realized possibility of serial number correcting, it is storage at one of the modules of service area. There is no possibility to correct model number, its located at ROM.

  3. Which problems are solved by SCSI HDD Seagate Specialized utility?

Case: I have many SCSI HDD Seagate with the error 0Gb capacity and with the other errors? How can PC-3000 for SCSI help me?

Answer: PC-3000 for SCSI has Seagate SCSI HDD Utility, which can solve almost all data recovery problems.

For it, the utility has the following functions:

    1. Regeneration of damaged translator saving user data at the same time.
    2. Write/read SA tracks
    3. SA surface checking.
    4. Reading by physical parameters, at the same time in logical LBA order ( i.e. in the order, at which data have been written by user) and according to P-List there is possibility to write information into file.
    5. Reading by logical parameters, also "long reading" with possibility to write information into file.
    6. Heads test and surface test by physical parameters.
    7. HDD's Serial number modifying.

All these functions in the most of the cases are able to make data recovery from Seagate SCSI HDD.

Problems with HDD SCSI Quantum.

  1. Quantum SCSI drive restarts computer.

Case 1: Quantum Atlas 10K III SCSI

I have a Quantum Atlas 10K III SCSI drive that has some problem.
When I connect it to PC and give it power, it calibrates the hard drive and reloads.
Is there a way to get access to the user data?

Answer: It's necessary to make restart of PC and see if HDD is determined by BIOS of controller or not. If controller doesn't determine HDD, it means probably that PCB is defective. In this case you should find the similar HDD and reinstall PCB from it.

Case 2: Quantum Atlas 10K IV SCSI

My hard drive Atlas 10K IV is well detected by the SCSI controller but it has the problem on reading and it reads for some time and then the computer hangs.
I tried to read user data with "media tools pro", and I can read the hard drive until a certain part, and I can access his structure, but media tools pro gives me an error when copying the data to the zip recover file.

Answer: It is necessary to use PC-3000 for SCSI and its specialized utility Maxtor-Quantum Utility.

With this Utility you can do the following:

    • SA information structure checking.
    • SA surface checking.
    • Write/read modules of SA.
    • Write/read SA tracks
    • Read CP, write CP to memory.
    • Microcode loading to SA and memory.
    • Reading/writing by physical parameters.
    • Physical heads test.
    • Indication of LBA-CHS conversion.

In you case we recommend you to use reading by physical parameters to get access to the user data. It gives us a possibility to read in logical LBA order (i.e. in the order, at which data have been written by user) and possibility to write information into file.

Reading by logical parameters, also "long reading" with possibility to write information into file. At the writing by logical parameters, there is possibility of writing from earlier saved files with user data to another good HDD.

Problems with HDD SCSI IBM.

    Case: DNES P-List.
Hi, I have a IBM DNES drive with damaged P-List and G-list (both copies). I assume there's no Factory copy in this drives, right? Also, can I write a correct P-list (from another drive? where can I get an empty one) and get access to user data (with the obvious translator problems)?

Answer: If P-List is damaged there no way to get access to the user data.
The situation is the same at Hotswap procedure if the translator is damaged. We can't solve this problem if we empty P-List. There's just one way to get the access to the user data with the help of PC-3000 for SCSI - you can read data by "long reading".
If there are problems with the translator, you can use Data Extractor to build virtual translator.

Hot Swap with SCSI Hard Drive.

Case: I have a SCSI Hard Drive Seagate with "Medium Error" for recovery. Maybe there is a problem with service information? Will Hot Swap help to get access to the user data?
Note: I did several tests and got to repair the Hard Drive, but I didn't get to solve the problem to recover the data.

Answer: Usually Hot Swap method helps to get user data if firmware in service area is damaged.
But there are some peculiarities of Hot-swap procedure for HDD SCSI Seagate (it is described more detailed in the user manual for Seagate Utility of PC-3000 for SCSI). In Hot Swap case for HDD SCSI Seagate the translator HDD donor will not correspond to the translator HDD patient. That's why you will get access only to the small part of data.
"Medium Error" could appear by different reasons. At first, it is necessary to make diagnostics of HDD using PC-3000 for SCSI. It has Test heads, Reading by physical parameters, SA surface checking. After localization of the cause of malfunction, it is possible to use different methods of data recovery procedure, which are realized at the Utility.
If HDD has capacity 0 GB, it is necessary to regenerate damaged translator. If there are problems with one of the heads reading, then reading by physical parameters we can read the user data by the good heads.
