New PC POWER PCI-2 is full-service hardware-software product designed to test and repair computers with Intel processors: 386, 486, Pentium III/IV; AMD: Athlon, Duron and their analogues. The tester is a PC card installed into 33МHz PCI slots with the length 32 meters. This product helps to do many diagnostic tests which are started from ROM installed on the card. These tests detect system errors and conflicts of the equipment.

Besides tests the tester's firmware has interactive utilities including: 4 Gb memory editing, PCI bus configuration spaces, operation with input/output ports, reading and editing MSR (MODEL-SPECIFIC REGISTERS) processor, editing values of CMOS memory cells with correcting check sums.
PC POWER PCI-2 has internal USB interface intended for transferring test results to the second computer. It enables to use the tester if the monitor or video adapter is damaged. In this case information is visualised and analyzed with the help of a special application being a part of delivery set.
The card can update control program using USB interface. If there is no second computer you can watch the results of testing on the digital indicator and light diodes (PASS, FAIL,SKIP). The card has the control of supply voltages and main system signals of PCI bus (CLK,RST). The internal USB interface checks if USB ports of the tested computer function properly (in this case the checked computer port is connected by the applied cable to USB port on the tester card).
It is possible to intercept control and to start the tester's firmware in three modes:
- intercept of control of BIOS code (Forsed Start Mode)1;
- during ROM SCAN while POST is being executed;
- with the help of INT 19h intercept when POST is completed.
It helps to search damages at the different stages of system initialization: at the initial stage of computer loading, when BIOS program initializes (until POST codes appear) and after the initialization, but before operating system loads by starting internal code of PC POWER PCI-2 tester's firmware on CPU.

The tester can intercept starting of BIOS program (Forced Start Mode), do its own testing and inintialization of the system. It will help to determine the cause of the damage at corrupted BIOS2 code.
The control system has the following possibilities:
- possibility to update the tester control code using USB processor installed on the card;
- visualization of POST codes (it is possible to choose decoding port from three available values) and conditions of the main mother board supply lines, calculation of the current frequency of PCI bus;
- three modes of starting the control program PC POWER PCI-2 for testing computer at the different initialization stages;
- visualization of POST codes (it is possible to choose decoding port from three available values) and conditions of the main mother board supply lines, hardware calculation of the current frequency of PCI bus.
PC POWER PCI-2 software has the following possibilities:
- testing of the main mother board elements and units at the lowest level with the help of specially designed algorythms;
- testing of external ports using special plugs (COM,LPT,USB...);
- getting complete information about all computer elements which has been determined in both cases as while doing tests and which was specified by the manufacturers of the elements;
- wide range of built-in utilities:
- computer memory viewing and editing;
- CMOS memory viewing and editing;
- operation with input-output ports;
- viewing and editing of MSR registor of the processor;
- getting information about PCI bus devices;
- viewing and editing of configuration space of PCI bus devices;
- copying hard disks in UDMA mode (the mode is determined by the hard disk);
- reading parameters of USB devices connected to the computer;
- DMI information viewing.
