PC-3000 for SCSI VERSION 2.01

 

List of changes and adding to the new version of PC-3000 for SCSI

It includes changes at Universal Utility, Utility for IBM HDD and added new utility for SCSI HDD Maxtor-Quantum.

Maxtor-Quantum Utility:

  Additions:

At the Utility next features are realised:
• On/Off of factory mode.
• Checking SA structure.
• Reading/writing of SA modules.
• Reading/writing of service tracks.
• Reading CP, writing CP to memory.
• Loading of microcode to SA and memory (loader).
• Reading/writing by physic.
• Indication of conversion LBA-CHS.

 

Universal Utility:

  Additions:

• Added possibility to work with IDE HDD at Win2K и Windows XP OS on standard ports. Available writing, reading and verification operations. At the replication of HDD, possible to copy from SCSI to SCSI, from SCSI to IDE, from IDE to SCSI, from IDE to IDE, i.e. any combinations.
• At the formatting command added possibility to load defect table at LBA format.
• Added conversion LBA-CHS indication.
• Added possibility to create BAD-sector within long writing.
• At the replication HDD added possibility of choosing data length which are reading and writing. Its actual for HDD with unstable reading.
• Added "Configuration HDD" menu, at which next options are realised:
  - indication of physical parameters - number of cylinders, heads, speed of rotating. Indication of zone table allocation, hardware quantity attempts to read, write, verification at faulty sector;
  - At the Mode select command it is possible to enable/disenable automatic relocation of defects on reading and writing, change hardware number of attempts of reading and writing of faulty sectors and limit of the time for handling these sectors;
  - Using Log sense command, indicating list of supporting pages and their contents. Here is given decoding of many actual parameters: date of HDD production, number of start-stop cycles, temperature of HDD, common quantity read and written sectors, and also SMART parameters - number of errors at different operation of data handling and codes of SMART state;
  - Clearing of error Logs;
  - Change of HDD capacity and setting of capacity on default(max. capacity);
  - Permission/prohibition of caching data at reading-writing operation.
• At the tools panel added button, which gives fast access to 3 elementary operation - readiness checking, recalibration, start/stop. This exact button is available at all special utilities as well.

 

IBM Utility:

  Additions:

• Added test of physical heads.
• Realized defects transfer from G-List to P-List with recalculating of translator.
• At configuration of HDD its possibility to set option "Inhibit checking of format integrity", which is allowed to get access to user data at HDD with "Medium Format Corrupted" error or similar, which are related to format.
• Possibility of choice at module's table the copy of used modules of SA - to work with 1st copy or switch to second copy and work with it for HDD with damaged modules at 1st copy and "Not ready" error.
• Changed procedure of entrance to utility via launching module table from file or Database.
• Revised list of additional error codes, disaggregate the reason of malfunction and give at most of the cases to identify exact reason of nonworking HDD.
